Animal: Donkey

Donkeys are appeared in many painting in Renaissance era especially in painting about the birth of Jesus. Donkeys and cattle in painting about the birth of Jesus are symbolize that even the lowest animals that God has created recognize him and gather for the birth of Jesus just like the propercy of Isaiah 1:3

"The ox knows his master,
       the donkey his owner's manger,
       but Israel does not know,
       my people do not understand."

Donkeys are also appeared in many tales of saints.
